After a nice afternoon in Bugibba yesterday and a cruise of the Harbour this morning I'm now ready to leave for home, good bye Malta!
Yesterday we had a nice time swimming and relaxing on the beach, although the beach wasn't exactly idyllic. The food at the Ta'Kris was excellent, as was the company! I had Sea Food Spaghetti, delicious!
This morning was the last session of our ICT course. The very last presentations on our groupwork were given, we got our certificates, and after some very nice snacks it was time to say farewell. I've had a fantastic time on Malta, learned a lot of useful new ICT tools, got to know many wonderful colleagues from all over Europe, and enjoyed the wonders of Malta. My plans for the afternoon: I'll go on a cruise with a glass bottom boat in Bugibba, and then enjoy a last day on the beach before I have to leave for Germany again. Today is groupwork day. In groups of 3-5 we are supposed to create projects using any of the new tools that we got to know during classes. My group are Saskia from The Netherlands, Ima from Spain, Iulia from Romania, and me. Our project is designed for 14-15 year old students and is about how to make a good presentation using Prezi. Since we actually want to do the project, we started to create a homepage as its basis. The groupwork is a great idea, firstly because we can practise our newly accuired knowledge, and secondly, because it's the start of an exciting international project!
After "work" it's beach time again! And in the evening we'll meet at the Ta'Kris restaurant in Sliema for a farewell dinner. The Blue Lagoon yesterday was fantastic, watch out for photos! After the trip to Comino we were starved and went to a little Thai restaurant. Unfortunately, it was situated directly next to a busy road, but the owner was so nice and the food was absolutely gorgeous! I had a rice dish with vegetables, pineapple & cashews. In spite of the location I can really recommend it. The name was something like "Times go by", can't find it anywhere on the internet, though. But it was pretty newly opened.
In the ICT session this morning we learned about stop motion animation, film coming up soon. At the moment we are working with audacity making a podcast. In the afternoon we`ll go for a sightseeing trip to Valetta, the capital of Malta. After lunch our session on digital video started. I have always wanted to learn how to work with windows movie maker, and now it is finally happening :)
And in one hour we are going to the island of Comino, to the famous Blue Lagoon. Hopefully it won`t be too crowded there today. This morning`s course was very instructive. We learned how to create a weebly homepage with blog. You can see the result of the lesson here :) I hope you find this site both informative and enjoyable. A little review of what has gone on so far: On Saturday I left home at 7.40 to catch my plane from Frankfurt airport. In the afternoon I arrived at Malta airport in the blazing sunshine. At the airport we were welcomed by a lady selling bus tickets for hotel transfer, very convenient. The bus took me to my hotel, the Alfonso in St Julian's. After settling in, I went to the Ta'Kris restaurant to meet two other course participants there, Marit from Norway and Johanna with her husband from Iceland. It was a very nice start to my Malta experience! There Marit showed us pictures from her bicycle trip on Gozo. So I had the idea to go to Gozo on Sunday, but not by bike, it's far too hot for long cycling trips for me. I took the hop on hop off sightseeing bus and had a great time on Gozo! You can find plenty of pictures here. In the evening we had our first informal meeting, dinner at the Bayview Terrace of the Corinthia Marina. Good food again, and good company! On Monday lessons started for real, fortunately in well-climatised computer labs. We learned about how to create quizzes with Powerpoint, how to create a panorama with Photosynth and how to make a Prezi presentation (more about the course contents here). And in the afternoon we had our first excursion to prehistoric temples, the Blue Grotto and Mdina. On Tuesday lessions (digitl story telling, eTwinning, hotpotatoes & comic stories) were until 4 pm, after that I went back to the hotel to upload some photos. Later I met with some very nice course participants on the beach, and in the evening we had dinner together in a nice little restaurant. They served fresh fish and rabbit, and the local beer, Cisk. |
